The Barbican Centre is having a fantastic exhibition to comprehensively survey avant-garde Japanese fashion, from the early 1980s to the present. Curated by the eminent Japanese fashion historian Akiko Fukai, Director of the Kyoto Costume Institute, the exhibition explores the unique sensibility of Japanese design, and its sense of beauty embodied in clothing.
The amazing Cassette Playa was there, providing one of the installations. Here we can see beautiful Clair Neal use her Fridja F-1000 to make the installation just perfectly presentable.
This amazing exhibition is on from 15 October 2010 – 6 February 2011. Here is a video all about it.
