After a quick hop, skip and jump from Berlin (Fashion Week) on an overnight train, I arrived in Paris! The city of love, passion and buff cheese. I was on the way to London Show Room A/W 2013. First things first though, when you’re in Paris, eat an omelette, they really do do the best omelettes.
So I arrived at Le Loft, the venue for London Show Rooms Paris, and was greeted by the friendly people of the British Fashion Council. The event had begun and the place looked extremely swish.
The idea of London Show Rooms is to take London’s leading menswear design talents to Men’s Paris Fashion Week, to increase their media presence and develop their businesses internationally. So basically just after the event of London Collections: Men, they are all carted off to Paris to show international buyers their garms. It’s pretty amazing because instead of seeing the clothes on the catwalk and the designers popping their heads out at the end of their show, they are there next to their clothes and can give you real in depth explanations of the inspirations behind their collections.
I would’ve been super happy to wear any of the designers’ clothes. Maybe the more street/urban styled one might highlight the fact that I’m clearly thirty now and I have a soft middle, so I’d better stick to the preppy stuff.
I’m a massive fan of E. Tautz, their collection was amazing. Nice suits but not too straightforward with baggy trousers rather than now boring Mad Men style. They also had a great orange colour going through their collection. Tempted to dye my cat in a similar fashion.
I’m also a massive fan of Mr Start, if you wear these jumpers you’re bound to get cuddled, and who doesn’t like a cuddle?
So all in all, an amazing trip and a great event. Best of luck to all the designers, lots of hard work and not a crease in sight.
We were lucky enough to provide the steamers for the girls collection too, but I couldn’t make it.
Straight after I had some time to burn so I got myself some new glasses (as my last Tom Ford ones are now somewhere I am not), hope you like them, Eye Like! Many thanks to Milan for helping me choose.
